IB-Middle Years Application Process

Henrico County International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programs - Application Timeline for Middle School Sites

Thursday, September 14, 2023 - Current 6th grade and 7th grade students can access the application through the QMS School Counseling Schoology Course
Please note - Parents may only access the application using their CHILD’s HCPS username and password
Thursday, September 21, 2023 - Moody Middle School IB will host two open house options: Session 1: 4:30-7:00 PM or Session 2: 6:00-7:00 PM
Thursday, October 19, 2023  - All completed applications are due to Mrs. Tyler in room 101 - no late applications will be accepted
Thursday, November 9, 2023 - Mrs. Tyler will administer the writing prompt to all students who applied 
Friday, January 12, 2024 - Application response letters are mailed
Wednesday, January 24, 2024 and Thursday, January 25, 2024 - IBMYP Guided Tours for Moody Middle School for accepted and waitlisted students
Tuesday, January 30, 2024 - Deadline for appeals requests (not accepted and waitlisted students) delivered to the IB Programs office at Henrico High School
Tuesday, January 30, 2024 - Student/parent agreement forms are due to the IB office at Henrico High School for all accepted students 
Three HCPS middle schools offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, which includes a comprehensive curriculum for students who are highly motivated and who have demonstrated the ability to achieve academically. In addition to a well-rounded selection of courses, students focus on developing a wide variety of skills to help them think critically, organize carefully, communicate appropriately and reflect purposefully.

Are you interested in connecting what you learn through an international framework to action in your community and to global issues?  Join the International Baccalaureate Program at Moody Middle School.

Program Highlights
• Emphasizes active learning, interdisciplinary investigations, real- world connections, and community action
• Features a rigorous learning continuum for students in grades six through 10 that includes vertical teaming of teachers from one grade level to the next
• Challenges students to meet both international and state academic standards
• Focuses on enhancing the opportunity for success for those students who enroll in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Programs at the high school level

Application procedures for IBMYP at Moody Middle School can be obtained from your HCPS school counselor. Private and home school applicants must contact the IB Programs Office at 261-6440 to request an application.  Quioccasin Middle School students who are selected for admission will attend the IB Middle Years Program at Moody Middle School.
